Designed with Pros. Engineered to Win.
Logitech is renowned for offering a wide range of peripherals, from office-focused mice and keyboards to budget gaming equipment to the serious-gamer-focused G Pro range. This range on its own has seen plenty of iterations over the years and with improvements every time, it’s no surprise that the G Pro gear has become a staple with many pro players and high-level casual players.
The Logitech G Pro X Superlight 2 has become somewhat of a favourite in the hands of many pros, yet Logitech listened to their users and decided to adapt the Superlight 2 to be more suitable for users with larger hands as well as adopt a slight change in form factor.
Introducing the Logitech G Pro X Superlight 2 DEX, yes that is a mouthful!
Design and Features
If you are not familiar with the Logitech G Pro X Superlight 2, it is, as its name suggests, very light. I have been fortunate enough to review and own the Superlight 1 and 2 and every time I pick up a Superlight I am astonished at the weight. The DEX is no different. The Logitech G Pro X Superlight 2 Dex is a mere 59g. The bigger surprise is the fact that it seems like the mouse has become bigger in its form and shape. yet it retains the weight of the Superlight 2.

From a visual aspect, the DEX has gained some curves to the rear making it protrude more to the inside of your palm as well as more of a hump towards the rear. This makes the Logitech G Pro X Superlight 2 Dex sit more comfortably and naturally in one’s hand. If you have smaller hands the Superlight 2 would not have been a problem but for larger hands, the Superlight 2 would feel flat and almost too small to properly grip and use.
Most people might think that having a mouse THIS light is just a waste of time or a sales gimmick. But if you think of someone running in heavy sneakers instead of lightweight running shoes, after a few hours of running, your shoes feel like bricks, much the same as when you need to quickly swing a mouse around on a mousepad, the lighter, the less fatigued you will be. With the new design, the Logitech G Pro X Superlight 2 Dex felt more natural to hold and felt more like an extension of my hand rather than something in my hand, thanks to the slightly slanted design.
With the new design, the Logitech G Pro X Superlight 2 Dex is no longer an ambidextrous design, it is now a right-hand-only mouse. The new design allows you to rest the back of your palm on the desk which helps with hand fatigue but could hamper those who play with different grips, Logitech could have made the left- and right-click surfaces slightly textured to help with grip for those using a different style of grip. Logitech does provide grip tape but who sticks those on a brand new mouse?
The Logitech G Pro X Superlight 2 DEX has five buttons, the left and right click, two sides and the scroll wheel click, although they seem to have long click travel, they are fitted with Lightforce switches. These switches are hybrid switches that use the best of both optical and mechanical switches. The Lightforce switches use the tensility of mechanical, which gives the “click” and the increased sensitivity of optical switches.
G Hub Software
Logitech G Hub software lets you customize the Superlight 2 Dex even further. Not only can you set your desired DPI settings for the HERO 2 sensor up to 44 000 DPI. It can now up the polling rate to 8k Hz. The G Hub software allows for some serious customization, although the Dex does not have a DPI switch to flick through your presets, you can set certain games or applications to automatically have the DPI change to the desired settings. Playing an FPS that needs you to be at 1200 DPI, no worries, move over to Excel and have it flick back to 800 DPI.
If this is your first time using a Logitech G mouse the G Hub has you covered, you can have the Superlight 2 Dex imitate other mice by having both connected and making the same movements on both mice. This will teach the Superlight 2 DEX Hero 2 sensor how you like the mouse to feel and allow it to imitate.
Much like the previous generations of Pro mice, the Superlight 2 DEX can work with the powerplay mats allowing wireless charging as long as you have the puck installed, which will obviously increase the weight. Although the Superlight 2 Dex should be good for 90 hours on a single charge if you use all battery-saving options.
Verdict
Logitech has taken a very established and loved design and made some minor tweaks to accommodate some more users. Many might think this is not enough of a change to warrant the rather steep price tag, and for many that is true. Most of us will never be able to use any of our gear to its full potential. But the Pro range, like the G Pro X Superlight 2, Dex, Lightspeed and X 60 mice and keyboards are not aimed at the everyday user, it’s made for the elite players and to them, every little gram of weight, or an extra split second of response makes a difference.
The changes that Logitech has brought to their Superlight 2 in the form of the DEX, I think, are good changes. Changes that increase comfort and improve battery life. For someone who is not shy of spending some money on a premium product that will give them an edge, the Logitech G Pro X Superlight 2 DEX is the mouse for you.
