ASUS TUF AX3000 V2 – Review

The Internet has become a part of our daily lives, less of a want and more of a need. Therefore having unreliable internet or WIFI that does not sufficiently cover your home or office is like living in the stone age.

Often, we simply use the router that comes from our ISP and that’s that. And more often than not, these solutions are sufficient for our day-to-day needs. But what if they are not? What if you want MORE from your little old flashing router under the desk?

ASUS has the answer, the ASUS TUF AX3000… Let’s take a look.

Looks and features

Routers have taken some odd shapes in recent times. I am sure most of us have seen the meme where a router looks nearly exactly like a PS5… The ASUS TUF AX3000 does not look like that. It takes up the more traditional shape with a few edges and angles to make it stand out from the rest.

The ASUS TUF AX3000 is predominantly black plastic with a few gold accents befitting the TUF monicker. The “squarish” router has a few cutouts here and there as well as a few angled pieces which double as ventilation as well as giving it an aggressive look. the Top is where you will find the lights for all the relevant features as well as a TUF emblem that lights up when the router is on.

The rear is where the ports and buttons are situated as well as the four large antennas. There are 5 ethernet ports, 1 is 2.5G and the other is 1G. There is also a USB 3.2 and three buttons, the power, reset, and WPS button.

Features

Game accelerator – this allows you to add gaming devices and have the ASUS TUF AX3000 prioritize its traffic for the best gaming experience possible.

Mobile Game mode – simply download the ASUS Router app on your mobile device of choice from the appropriate store and have your ASUS router help give you the edge.

Open NAT – anyone who has ever played games be it on console or PC, has almost certainly had issues with NAT type. Thanks to ASUS and the AX3000 you will always have an Open NAT type, making port forwarding as simple as three easy steps.

AiMesh – AiMesh allows you to incorporate multiple routers to create a larger WIFI coverage by easily sharing settings across your AiMesh network.

AiProtection – seeing as there are many phishing and scammer sites out on the scary internet, ASUS thought it wise to help you protect yourself. Thanks to AiProtection, the moment you open a suspect website the router will alert you to its suspect security and this can save you from becoming the next cyber victim.

Verdict

The ASUS TUF AX3000 is a pricey router if you are simply looking for a normal router to use around the house. The ASUS TUF AX3000 is certainly aimed at the more advanced user but still makes the features really simple and easy to use.
